Dr. James J. Minnick

Dr. James J. Minnick is a respected Detroit pastor, teacher, and faith leader with more than 25 years of ministry leadership. As the long-time Senior Pastor of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Minnick is known for delivering biblical truth with clarity, relevance, and a deep commitment to community transformation.

Dr. Minnick is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shares life and ministry with his wife, First Lady Tara Minnick, whose strength and support have been essential to his journey. Together, they are the proud parents of two daughters, and welcome a dedicated son-in-law into their family.

One of Dr. Minnick’s greatest blessings is his granddaughter, who inspires his commitment to faith, legacy, and the next generation.

For over two decades, Dr. Minnick has taught a faith that is not passive but active: lived out in service, justice, mentorship, and personal responsibility. His work in Detroit focuses on building stronger families, developing spiritually mature believers, and empowering the next generation of leaders to live out their God-given purpose.
